Long Island miscellaneous collection, 1780-1960.

Account books, deeds, photographs, trade bills, receipts, broadsides, programs, pamphlets and other papers relating to individuals, businesses, towns and villages from around Long Island including Babylon, Smithtown, Locust Valley, Oyster Bay, Yaphank, Brooklyn and Queens. Items of note include a letter to William Smith, Esq. from Lt. Thomas Jackson concerning the attack on Fort St. George at St. George's Manor, with reference to a Negro captured during the attack, 1780; minutes and tax lists of the Union School District of Sag Harbor, 1862-1865, and a census of school children, 1877-1879; assessment rolls of the Town of Brookhaven, 1836-1845; receipt book of Capt. Charles Gillette, Sayville, 1850-1861; a scrapbook of Frank J. O'Rourke of Whitestone, Queens, with photos, programs, letters, telegrams and other material on volunteer firemen tournaments and races, 1904, plus loose clippings to 1956; and deeds from Middle Village in the town of Newtown, Queens County, 1852-1906.
